I would imagine that when you’re a producer or director there’s always the hope and expectation that your movie turns out to be a huge success, gets critical acclaim, and lines you up to be big time for years.

Unfortunately it rarely works out that way.   One way to achieve that success is by creating a movie that will lend itself to sequels and/or prequels.

I’m sure these movies had high expectations to start franchises but they wound up sucking in the end…

Mikhail Prohkorov, the Russian billionaire who owns the New Jersey Nets basketball team, announced he would challenge Vladimir Putin for the presidency in March, a sign of how quickly the political landscape has shifted since parliamentary elections widely criticized as having been rigged. A public outcry against results of the Dec. 4 vote has presented Putin, long Russia’s strongest leader, with a sudden problem: The protest by tens of thousands of people in Moscow on Saturday was the largest demonstration in the city since the collapse of the Soviet Union 20 years ago. Many suggest Prohkorov’s announcement was made as a plot to defuse these protests, but that is speculation at this time.

I feel like I’m watching an episode of ‘Pinky and the Brain’ right now. Mikhail what do you want to do today, “Try and take over the world”. Talk about having everything… Good heavens. Proks is trying to take over the world! First an NBA team, and now Presidency of Russia. What’s next; buying the Pittsburgh Pirates?? There is some next level sh$t going on in Russia. I wouldn’t want that Presidency if it meant I could make Brooklyn Decker my first lady… Actually, let me rethink that one.

With all this Chris Paul and Dwight Howard trade stuff going around, it got us thinking – is it really worth the drama?

Over the years, there’s been plenty of player swaps in all different sports that have grabbed headlines, so why do we care so much about these two? Sure they’re both All-Stars and arguably tops in the league at their position; but will they lead whoever they land on a title?

It’s kind of like when you’re a kid and you see a magazine that shows a side boob shot.  You try moving the magazine around to try and see if it’ll change the angle or something even though it’s two dimensional.

This post is a pretty sweet piece written by my boy Chris over at one of our other sites Unathletic.  I’ve decided to share it with all of you today.

When Chris said  “Our Generation”, he was talking about sports fans in their mid-twenties to early thirties.   The idea behind this article is simple. Chris was having a conversation with a colleague about the sports teams he roots for, and he always mentioned that he was extremely blessed to be growing up during one of their amazing runs.  Those days have long since passed.

I’m sure some of you know what we’re talking about here.   You’ve been a part of a period of 4-5 years when your team was winning multiple championships and always making it to the dance.  They are the best times to be a fan, but as we all know it’s not all roses all the time.
