Many of you out there may have attended this year’s Comic Con.   In fact it’s getting to the point where you really can’t blame anyone.  The geek culture is absolutely tremendous these days.  So much so that it’s a multi billion dollar industry.

Between video games and website catering to fantasy worlds, chances are one of you reading this right now will be playing a game in the next 15 minutes.  And with great profit comes great attractiveness.

The reason I used the word “humans” is because there are tons of effects that hurricanes have on our ecosystem.  Be it a negative or a positive, weather certainly affects and changes our world in both the immediate and long terms.

But how about us?  How about our lives?  Remember that hurricane Irene shattered some lives and even destroyed some towns.   As we speak damage is still being fixed and residual effects of the hurricane are still being felt.

And while negative usually outweighs the positive, I still think there are some beneficial elements to a hurricane of Irene’s magnitude.   I selected five after the jump….

Honestly there aren’t many more sad things than seeing a picture like this.   At the same time there’s no greater feeling than knowing a dog with as much hard luck as this little guy has been taken to a good home and has a great life along with great health.

It’s also nice to know that there are people out there who are willing to take dogs like this in and give them the care that they need.

I’m not sure why of all people I put Emily Addison in my circle of trust.  In fact I have no idea what my circle of trust even is.  I suppose it’s that little place in my heart where I hold things dear.   And Emily, I would say I definitely have a little dear place in my heart for you.

Aw man, this picture just bums me out. This kid had literally no friends to play lightsabers with, so he tied one to a tree so he could fight that? I’m pretty sure you could give a lightsaber to any passing stranger and they would play with you for at least ten minutes with it. No one can turn down a lightsaber!

In this day and age where no one has an attention span longer than five seconds, it stands to reason that five second films would actually be a success. Here’s a compilation video that takes the absolute best films that don’t run over five seconds. You can watch them in a few minutes, so it won’t take much time out of your day.

As you might remember, a while back yet another Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out.  And even more recently there’s been crazy pirate stories going on in the news.

Hell I didn’t even know that pirates still existed, did you?  I mean technically they’re called Pirates but I’m thinking more along the lines of eye patches and saying “Arghhhh!”
