For the life of me I couldn’t tell you the name of any teacher I had in high school. Hell I can’t even remember most of college. I mean sure I can remember certain moments and a general overall feeling I had but if any of you know what I’m talking about I hope you know what I mean.
It’s just not the same as memories from childhood where I can recall specific names, places, smells, sounds, you name it. Why the hell is that? Hmm. Rather than dwell on it I wanted to share five people who I can recall from my childhood that I think all of us can probably relate to….
Your First Grade Teacher
For me it was my first grade teacher. For some of you it might be Kindergarten or 3rd grade. Doesn’t matter. Everyone remembers some teacher from their elementary school. I remember my 3rd grade guy had the worst breath in the entire world. Anyway, this is a shout out to you Mrs. Ilberg. You were awesome.
The Aides from the Cafeteria
Every elementary school had “aids” in the cafeteria. Which I suppose in modern times would be considered either bouncers or security guards. I know the aids I had were all pretty big, mean, yet I totally remember them. Here’s to you Mrs. Ianucci.
A Camp Counselor
We’ve all had that one camp counselor who we’ll never forget. For me it was at the age of 6 when I went to Pierce day camp. There was this awesome guy Tyrone. Guy used to always give me shoulder rides. He was the man.
A Wacky Bus Driver
I’ll never remember this guy’s name but when I went to Robin Hood day camp we had this bus driver who would always go over 80 mph on this bridge. He also constantly listened to the band Rush on his cassette player.
First Girlfriend/Boyfriend or Person You Kissed
Jamie Tawfick. Wherever you are. You’re the first person I ever French kissed while playing spin the bottle. Thanks for the memory.
