Many Americans go out to eat more than once a week. It could be an Arby’s night but that still counts. However I’ve grown more and more wary of restaurants these days. Don’t get me wrong. When it’s a really nice place, I’m all for it and 100% enjoy eating out with my family.
However, for the most part I prefer to stay in. It’s just not worth it to me anymore. And I don’t think it’s because I’m such a pain in the ass. I think it’s because the restaurant industry as a whole is a lot worse than you’d think.
Here are five reasons you should reconsider eating in a restaurant….
Someone Will Spit in Your Food Amongst Other Things
Think this shit doesn’t happen? Think again. I along with many other people I know have worked in a restaurant. If you only knew half about the stuff that actually goes on behind the scenes you would puke. Dropped food, spitting in the food (yes they do that, a lot), overall dust factor? The list goes on and on and on. Put it this way, you don’t want to visit the kitchen of most place you go to.
Calorie Content is Absurd
Do you know how much shit goes into food to make it taste better? More than I’d care to imagine. Like hamburgers? How about how those buns are all shiny? Mayonnaise. And that’s nothing compared to the amount of butter used in entrees. If you think you’re being healthy in a restaurant there’s a 99% chance you are not. The only sure way is to ask for everything steamed which is disgusting.
Most are Not up to Health Codes
There’s some crazy stat like 75% of restaurants are not up to health codes and apparently it’s pretty easy to pass health inspection. And by 75% I mean many do pass but it’s bullshit. Most are horrible. Gross bathrooms, floors, you name it.
Being Too Close to Other People
It’s becoming more and more common that tables are just sitting on top of one another these days. It happens more in metro areas but even out in the suburbs it’s getting crowded. And it pisses me off. I don’t need to be part of another family for 2 hrs. No thanks.
Waiting to Eat
I for one can’t stand a long wait. Nothing pisses me off more than when a great restaurant doesn’t take reservations. It blows. Having to sit there for 30-40 minutes before even having water? No thanks.
