We all know that genetically, it seems asians are predisposed to live longer than the rest of us. Or, have they just been faking it this WHOLE TIME? This latest story would seem to indicate a bit of treachery.
A home visit by Tokyo officials to a local resident to congratulate him on his 111th birthday instead led to a police search that uncovered his three-decade-old skeleton, media reported on Thursday.
The officials in the Japanese capital believed Sogen Kato was the eldest resident of Adachi ward and visited his listed address to honour him on his birthday, public broadcaster NHK and Jiji Press reported.
But they grew suspicious when his 53-year-old granddaughter told them that Kato “doesn’t want to see anybody”.
As it turns out, the family has been collecting the man’s pension money from his dead wife, and are now being investigated for fraud. Did they at least get to keep the birthday cake?
