As most of you know, many Saturdays are prized football game days for NCAA fans and there’s always a ton of trash talk leading up to the Tennessee, Florida games.   And in honor of these games I thought I’d bring back a pretty solid column that’s been lying in the wood works for some time: Tailgating Nation.
This week we bring you Tennessee. I mean Florida is an obvious choice but I already covered them some time back. Besides I think it’s a hell of a lot more fun to pick on the Volunteers.
Here are 7 reasons you should be watching Tennessee Football.
He’s a cocky guy making awfully bold predictions. You gotta like the fire and frankly, lunacy. Plus he has a really hot wife.
Future Failures to Florida
If it’s not Tebow it’ll be some other QB and Meyer smiling in glory each weekend they beat the Vols.
The Vols have amassed a successful tradition since their beginning in 1891. Their all-time record of 776-327-53 ranks the Vols second on the list of winningest SEC programs, and ninth on the list of all time winningest major college programs, just behind Alabama and ahead of Southern California. They rank third all-time in bowl appearances(tied with USC) and fourth all-time in bowl victories. Their last national championship was in the 1998 college football season. The Vols boast six national titles in their history.
The Vols play at historic Neyland Stadium, the second winningest home-field in college football history. Tennessee has won 422 all-time games at Neyland Stadium
Smokey is the mascot of the University of Tennessee sports teams. These teams, named “The Volunteers” and nicknamed “the Vols”, use both a live and a costumed version of Smokey.
There is an actual Bluetick Coonhound mascot, Smokey IX, which leads the Vols on the field for football games. The hound is cared for by the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity on the University of Tennessee campus. There is also a costumed mascot that appears at every Vols game and has won several mascot championships. The costumed Smokey has a female counterpart that appears at the women’s athletic events
It’s a pretty cool endzone. I would like to pour beer on it though.
Any time you get the pleasure of seeing ladies like this, it’s worth all the while isn’t it? This great bunch of girls fuels the engine that is the Vols football machine. Or not. They’re just really hot and fun to look at.
Any guy that does a commercial like this is reason to watch the school he came out of. Every time he says “you suck” I laugh my ass off.
