People do not freak out when they see a child of 8 training for football (soccer), tennis, gymnastics, ice-skating, track etc. But when it comes to lifting weights suddenly people get so out of joint. Why is that? Why is it that weight lifting heavy weights is seen as so extreme (even for adults)? The benefits of it are incredible and it's reputation has been tarnished by those on the more extreme ends of things (i.e - those taking a cocktail of drugs and performing exercises badly so they get injured).Admittedly, it's unusual to see a young girl lifting so much weight (in fact, it's unusual to see a fully grown woman lifting heavy) but it's not disturbing. If they had the girl hooked up on 'roids etc then it would be but given she's only 40kg and her face is very soft she is clearly drug-free. I believe if one wants to be disturbed about a young girl doing this sport then they should also feel the same when they see young children being trained to be pro athletes for other sports. I get the impression folks will still continue having their illogical knee-jerk reaction though instead.

I don’t see how these photos are disturbing.
