Six Degrees of Dazed and Confused? 10 Actor Coincidences in this Movie
As I watched Dazed and Confused for the 500th time last night, I realized that it’s gotta be in my top ten rewatchability movies of all time. I mean every single time this movie is on, I leave it on. It’s gotta say something about this flick.
But as I watched the movie I realized that there’s some weird stuff going on. There are a ridiculous amount of actor pairings that you seen in this movie, that show up in later movies. I mean you gotta hand it to Dazed and Confused.
It sure seems to have spawned many budding Hollywood careers. In fact it’s almost Kevon Bacon gamish. While it’s not totally six degrees, check out some of this weird stuff from these 10 actor pairings from Dazed and Confused.
Nikky Catt and Ben Affleck in Boiler Room
Nikky Katt plays the greaser hood who says “I came here to do two things, kick some ass and drink some beer…” And you all know who Affleck plays. Well these two were in the movie Boiler Room together. Amazingly enough, Giovanni Ribisi was in Boiler Room and his sister is in Dazed and Confused. Even a step further, Giovanni Ribisi and Catt were in the movie Suburbia as well, which was directed by Richard Linklater who directed Dazed and Confused. I’m just warming up.
Nikky Catt and Parker Posey in Suburbia
Ah yes, let’s not forget miss hazer Parker Posey in Dazed and Confused was also in the movie Suburbia as a band manager. She was also in the movie You’ve Got Mail which has nothing to do with anything.
Ben Affleck and Cole Hauser in School Ties
Cole Hauser is the guy in Dazed and Confused who gets up from his chair and sits right back down because he realizes how drunk he is. He’s also in a ton more movies. However, here’s some weirdness. Matt Damon was in School Ties as well. And the three of them were all in Good Will Hunting together. Don’t forget Hauser played the lead Nazi in Higher Learning which also features Adam Goldberg. We’ll get to that.
Adam Goldberg and Anthony Rapp in A Beautiful Mind
Goldberg and Rapp play Newhouse and Tony. Newhouse is the guy who fights the hood, Nicky Catt. Tony is the loser looking glasses guy. However, these two were in Beautiful Mind together. Remember, Jennifer Connolly was in A Beautiful mind but also Higher Learning, and of course Adam Goldberg was in Higher Learning. Is this stuff not weird?
Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams in Chasing Amy (and Mallrats)
More Kevin Smith movies? Ben Affleck is like the king of this list. As you know Joey Lauren Adams was in Dazed and Confused as Randall Pinks’ girlfriend. Of course they were both also in Mallrats which oddly enough featured Jeremy London, Jason London’s (who played Pink) twin brother. It’s mind boggling isn’t it?
Adam Goldberg and Matthew McConaughey in EdTV
A whole new twist to this equation. We take it to EdTV. OK there’s nothing special here. These two just happened to be in these movie together.
Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey in Return of Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Yes, Renee Zellweger was in the movie Dazed and Confused. She is an uncredited girl in a blue truck so it counts. But I’m sure most of you didn’t realize she played alongside McConaughey in Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 1994. Hmm, huh, hmm?
Cole Hauser and Adam Goldberg in Higher Learning
We went over this. Craziness.
Cole Hauser and Ben Affleck in Good Will Hunting
We went over this as well.
Renee Zellweger and Rory Cochrane in Empire Records
Rory Cochrane plays Ron Slater, the infamous stoner guy in Dazed and Confused. Well, he and Zellweger were in Empire Records together. OK I’m done here and am really exhausted.
*Also, I’m well aware that Milla Jovovich is in Dazed and Confused but I couldn’t find any links with her. Perhaps I didn’t look hard enough.
