Awesome Original Songs Used for Sampling in Rap Songs: “I Keep Forgetting,” Michael McDonald
Ever hear a rap or hip hop song and wonder what the hell the background track they’re using is? Will Smith is probably one of the biggest culprits of this. It’s called sampling. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing at all. Hell “Ice Ice Baby” did it with Queen and Bowie’s “Under Pressure” and it worked out just fine. Sometimes it’s successful and sometimes it ends up being God awful.
Just the other day I heard the song “Regulate” by Warren G and Nate Dogg and remembered the background track to it. It’s “I Keep Forgetting” by Michael McDonald. Both songs happen to Kick ass. Enjoy.
