I want to go on record in saying that personally I think Jimmy Connors was/is not a nice guy. Granted he was a fantastic player and showman but you can just tell his cockiness probably got under the skin of tons of people (and I’d guess it would mine).

But you can’t argue his intensity on the court. And you can’t deny that it was he, not Tiger Woods who really got the fist pump going. So while Woods may have the clamps on it now, announcers should stop saying “trademarked fistpump” with Woods. That would be Connors.

Ah yes, and I’m sure there were people before Connors who fistpumped but I’m not going there.
