As I read this from the NY Times: Chad Pennington’s 2008 season will open in Miami, as planned, only he will be wearing the uniform of the Dolphins instead of the Jets. Pennington, released by the Jets after they acquired the future Hall of Famer Brett Favre, agreed to a deal with the Dolphins on Friday that could be worth $11.5 million over two years. At least $3.5 million will be guaranteed.

A part of me wanted to write a small blurb about Chad. First of all, I’m a Giants fan so I’m not even sure I have the right to say these things. However, perhaps given an objective point of view my statements are valid.

I like Chad Pennington. We all know he wasn’t the best quarterback in the league. His floater style passing clearly pissed of Jets fans and limited the Jets game more than we could possibly imagine.

But you can’t take away the fact that this guy is a warrior. He tries his best out there. He’s been taken down and ass kicked more than most QB’s in the league and he never complained once. Even through the boos.

P.S. He’s also one of the smartest guys in the NFL and could easily be a scientist or something when his career is done. And bottom line? He’s just a good guy.

In all honesty I wish him the best in Miami and I really hope he brings it to Gang Green in the opener.
