I would argue Soundgarden is far better than Pearl Jam. Ten was a great album, but poorly produced...just a bunch of cool songs. I agree...you probably put too much weight to it because you were attached to it in HS. Soundgarden on the other hand had three masterpieces... Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, Down on the Upside. You allude to "Spoonman" as one of the songs to recognize Cornell and Soundgarden by...you certainly could have picked a laundry list of better tunes than that! Slaves and Bulldozers, Mailman, Burden in My Hand...many more classics that make Spoonman out for what it really is...an average crack at main stream. You have some great bands here.
