The Only Guy Who Danced At The Shea Stadium Billy Joel Concert on Wednesday
I attended the Billy Joel Concert on Wednesday, and as usual the man put on a great show. Another as usual? He was completely trashed. There was zero question that whatever he was drinking out of his cup was nothing short of 80 proof. But something really strange went on.
The concert was dead. I felt like the entire time I was there no one was dancing or really bopping along until the last half an hour. Also, no one sang along to Joel’s songs. They only sang along to when Don Henley and John Cougar Mellencamp came out. Jesus if I have to hear “Ain’t that America” one more time.
Great concert but disappointing from a crowd involvement perspective. This guy was the only evidence I could find of someone truly grooving out.
